Emily Withers. Emily Wants To Play Too. Maxwell Steele. Full list of all 14 Emily Wants to Play Too achievements worth 1,000 gamerscore. It takes around 3-4 hours to unlock all of the achievements on Xbox One.
Before dipping into the lore, let us explain what Emily Wants to Play is. This game is one of those exploration horror types that forces you to survive without any real defenses. Think Five Nights at Freddy’s, only this time you have free movement. You are a pizza delivery boy and on your last stop, you find an empty house. It isn’t run down or anything, but there are these dolls scattered about. There is also Emily, the twisted visage of a little girl that wants nothing more than to play a game with you starting at the stroke of midnight.Your job is to uncover the story by finding letters, drawings, and audio recordings while surviving until morning. As each hour passes, one of the dolls will become active and you will have to learn its patterns to avoid it.
They have a strong connection to the house, one that leads to the death of all who enter. The house in Emily Wants to Play doesn’t get much of a backstory to it while you play. One thing you do learn is that it houses those three mysterious dolls that become Emily’s playmates. They are creepy and use every room and access point to their advantage.Whatever the house was before the events that preceded your arrival, it is now a sort of tomb.
One that collects the bodies and souls of those who enter its walls. This seems to most definitely be the case when you take a look at the artwork scattered throughout the house and one of the final recordings found in the basement. The recording says in the three demonic voices of the dolls:“Don’t ever leave. We just want to play. We are one.”The dolls want to have fun within the house, they just go to deadly measures in each of their games. Emily’s parents go through hell up until the point of their demise. After moving to the house, Emily changes.
At first, her parents thought maybe she was upset because it was a new home in a new town. Kids tend to grow attached to what they’re comfortable with, so it wasn’t too out of the ordinary. But then, things took a turn for the violent and downright scary. The mother (the only parental voice heard in the game) left recordings around, recounting her experiences with Emily and the house. She was suffering from depression so her psychiatrist suggested she make recordings of herself to cope. After finding the dolls in the basement and giving them to Emily, she began talking to them. She started becoming violent in school and at home, and even began watching her parents as they slept. This naturally left them mortified, so the parents decided to lock her in the basement where she wouldn’t be able to harm others. One day, the mother found Emily dead.
She had no bruises, no markings at all in fact, but she was gone. Yet now, the dolls began to move about the house. The parents’ worst nightmare came true as the dolls came to claim them. One recording makes it seem as if the parents may have actually left.
The mother leaves the following message:“Emily’s gone and the dolls keep appearing around the house. I don’t know if this is just me imagining it or if this is really happening. Either way, we have to leave this place.”But the final recording in the game treats you to the sounds of the dolls as they utter a frightening message. They want nobody to leave ever. And the fact that they left that recording shows that they caught on to the mother.
Another clue that they never escaped is the fact that everything is packed up but it’s all still in the house. The parents had every intention of getting the hell out of there, but they never made it.Upon beating the game, you find out that police had found the bodies of the parents the month before, but no details are given. Nothing is ever mentioned of poor Emily’s body.
Emily is the titular antagonist who just wants to play a little game. She is downright terrifying. This is mostly to due to the fact that, unlike the three dolls, this is a dead little girl lumbering at you with murderous intent (there’s just something really terrifying about ghosts of children).
The question remains, though, why is she haunting this house along with her doll friends? When the family first moves into this new home she is upset, as most kids are when this happens, but she’s still normal. She has no friends and is constantly sad until given the three dolls found in the basement. She has friends now, everyone is happy. That is, until she starts talking to them. Her mother finds her whispering to them in a way that shows they may be talking back:“There was a box of three very strange dolls down the basement.
Emily talks to them as if they can hear her. Maybe it’s a good sign; it’s the first positive thing in a long time.”That’s when the violence begins. Emily starts harming other children in school, so badly that she ends up expelled. This happened before, at two other schools, and she’s only getting worse. Her parents buy her a puppy to cheer her up, make her normal again.
Although Emily Wants to Play never outright says it, it is inferred that Emily killed the dog in one of her violent episodes. It goes downhill from there as the parents grow terrified of their own child and begin locking her in the basement. This is when things get interesting, you would think that she would start haunting immediately in order to get revenge along with her doll pals.
But the mother makes it clear that she only sees the dolls moving. There’s a good chance that it was the dolls who murdered Emily and then move on to her parents, yet Emily returns after the death of the parents. It may be due to the fun she sees the others having. The clue to this is when you look at the laptop in the kitchen when you arrive, you will see that it is her account logged into the Checker’s Pizza site. She orders a pizza in order to bring someone to the house and on the whiteboard near the fridge, it is written that she wants to play a game starting at midnight. She has become part of the cycle. The dolls are easily the most mysterious element of Emily Wants to Play. Everything can be explained except for these three mysterious beings: Mr.
Tatters (the clown), Kiki (the porcelain girl), and Chester (the classic dummy). They can talk, they can move, and they can definitely kill, yet there’s no way of telling how or why. What we do know about the dolls is that they each have a different game they like to play. Kiki likes to play with lights, Chester loves to play tag, and Mr. Tatters plays a version of Red Light/Green Light. All common kids games. The fact that each shares the “don’t leave me alone” sentiment may allude to them all having been kids at one point. Even when Emily joins, she introduces a brand new game (hide and seek) to keep up with the pattern, but for some reason, she appears as a ghost. The dolls are most certainly possessed by something, yet it is unknown what.
It’s interesting that they adhere to their rules, though. If you do manage to survive until 6 a.m. They let you out without a fight.
You can just walk away. It’s almost as if they truly are children that just want to play.
Perhaps the dolls were brought in at different times and possessed by the ghosts of children who moved in, which makes you wonder what is it about this house that causes this to happen? At the end of the game, you can hear a news report talking about the events of the game while a tour of the house is underway. Everything is just as you left it, only at the very end when the camera turns, a box with the three dolls is sitting there and the camera suddenly goes black with a loud noise. The game is dark, and terrifying, but the cycle continues. Make sure that if you find yourself delivering pizza after 11 PM one day that a human answers the door.
1 guideProceed upstairs to your bedroom and go to sleep. When you wake up, look around your bedroom for the flashlight.
It could spawn in different locations around the room. The game will tell you to do some things around the house but you don't have to do them right now. Instead proceed back downstairs, pass the kitchen, and go to the front of the house.
You should see some big clocks with a certain time on it. Memorize that time and then go back upstairs. When you go down the first hallway, you should see some red square pictures ahead of you. Turn left when you get there and then look left again to see some pictures with dots on them that look like dots on a dice. Pick the one that corresponds to the time shown on the clock. For example, if the clocks showed 2:00 then pick the picture with 2 dots on it. Pick up the keycard behind it and head back downstairs and pass the clocks to the front door.
Open it and Emily will come into the house. You will then unlock. 1 guideNow you will wake up again but this time you have to do all the house tasks.
You should see the keys and flashlight right by you when you wake up so make sure to pick both of them up. Head towards the bathroom on the same level and take a shower then head downstairs to the kitchen to wash the dishes.
Go to the front door and you will be on your way to the office building. As soon as you get into the building, walk forward down the hall then go to the open door on the right. You should see Chester in there with an orange light and a weird sound. As soon as you see that, immediately turn around and run back to the building entrance and open the door. You will unlock.
Once you unlock access to the blue area the first doll would appear, Greta. She is the baby doll that walks around and keeps on saying 'Mama!'
In order to avoid her you will have to walk. If you run, she she will chase you down. Also keep in mind that she can also hear you opening doors and stepping on boxes on the ground. Make sure that you aren't in her way when she walks around but it is OK to walk around her. If you have a far enough distance, you can run for a second and then walk.
She doesn't run you down forever if you stopped within a good time.Mr. Tatters (The clown) may also spawn at this time. Just like the first game, you have to stand still but with this game it is slightly different.
When he appears, you will see a green and red light appear on the screen. He allows you to move around on the green but you have to stop moving on the red. To make him disappear, get close to him and tap him on the shoulder by pressing. The keycard is found in Research office 2 on the brown table. Refer to the keycard video above from 0:30 for the exact location.Once you got through the area you will unlock.
1 guideYou will now be on level 2 which is the green area. You will have to find the second keycard to advance to the third level which is found in the warehouse. Once you step inside the warehouse, go forward and then go all the way to the right to pick up the flashlight on the table in which you would need for the rest of the game. In this level you will have Kiki (from the first game) and be introduced to a new doll, Maxwell Steele which is a man in a black suit (kind of like Slenderman).Kiki (Little girl doll in the black dress) has exactly the same pattern as before but just with a more grown up laugh.
When you hear it, look around and keep your eyes on her or else she will get you. After some time she will disappear. If you turn away while she is still there, she will start creeping towards you so you could make a note on how far she is if you want to turn away and start running. Just be sure to check back.To avoid Maxwell Steele, you have to aim your flashlight at him when he comes towards you.
He will basically go right through you. He has a squeaking sound when he is close by so make sure you listen out for it.The keycard can be found in one of 3 locations: The left back corner of the room on the desk, on a box in an isle of the warehouse, or on a brown wooden box in an isle that has the words 'Load this end up' on the side. Refer to the keycard video above from 0:50 for the exact locations.Once you got through the area you will unlock. 1 guideYou will now be on the third level which is in the yellow area. During this part, you are are supposed to be introduced to Weasl but for some reason he never spawned in for me during any of my playthroughs at this particular part. Just in case he may spawn, you will hear a music box playing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' that indicates that he is about to hop out of the box.
The objective is to find the box and turn it off my pressing on it. If you can't find the box then don't worry. He will just come chasing you but you can outrun him.To get the keycard, you will have to backtrack to get to the other yellow area. It is found in the Conference and Training room.
After that you will have to walk all the way back again. Refer to the keycard video above from 1:40 for the exact location. Keep in mind that you may have to avoid Mr.
Tatters and Greta while backtracking. Once you get into the final red area you will unlock. 1 guideAs soon as you start in the red area, walk straight ahead into the electrical room and turn on the power. When you come out and progress, Emily will come out in front of you. Walk all the way back and then quickly go around her when she comes close. Run down and then head left to go into the vent.
When in the vent, follow the path but go right when given the option to go either way. You will then make your way to a secret room in which you can pick up another keycard. The card will be on a wooden table. Follow the keycard video above from 2:27 for a video guide. You will unlock the last secret achievement while down there.
1 guideNow you will have to survive against Chester. Just like the first game, he chases you down but this time he doesn't stop running! I found it easier to run in a continuous circular loop within the warehouse and yellow area. You will have to cut corners in order to outrun him so running in a circular loop would be the best idea. After a while of chasing you, he will give up and then start again.
Sometimes he can spawn in front of you so make sure to quickly turn and run the other way. Here is my own video showing what I did. 1 guideNow will be playing a game of musical lights. The objective is to find a room with light before the 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' song finishes playing.
Once you found the proper room, the music will stop and you will have to walk around and find another room while the music plays. Keep in mind that Max will be patrolling the entire building.
A good strategy is to start from the white area and check the bathrooms and the office room all the time. I would recommend that you stall next to the room (if Max can can only get you from the front).
Make this area the starting point after each break. Here is a video by Achievement Land showing you the good strategy. 1 guideNow you will have to survive Kiki, Mr. Tatters, and Chester in this retro hour. First you should make your way towards the warehouse area so you could do that same loop again when Chester chases you. Just like in the first game, you have to be aware of the combinations that could occur. Thankfully if Mr.
Tatters stops you, Chester would not try and get you until it is over and vice versa. I would recommend that you stay around the loop. Stare Kiki down until she disappears. If Chester chases you while Kiki is in play, run around the loop but make sure to watch out for Kiki because she could appear in front of you. Tatters spawns in, you should try to get him as soon as possible and tap him to make him run away. If you can't get to him in time, you should check around for Kiki and look at her before standing still. Chester doesn't chase you for long in this part.
After you get through this, you will unlock. 1 guideNow you will have to play a game of Freeze Tag.
Basically all 7 dolls will be running around and you will have to try and catch and freeze them all by pressing. Keep these things in mind:.
Weasl and Emily can unfreeze other dolls so I would recommend going after them first. When Weasl runs, you will hear musical notes play. When Emily moves around, you will hear loud thumps. Mr.
Tatters can freeze you for a few seconds. I found him to be very annoying but once you get him (including Emily and Weasl), things should be ok for you. You can only freeze Max when your flashlight is off. Listen for the squeaking noise then turn off the flashlight and chase him. When you hear Greta, walk towards her or else she will run away from you very fast.
If you froze Kiki before freezing Emily and Weasl, I would recommend freezing her again (just incase she got unfrozen). She pretends to be frozen if not frozen. When you have frozen them all, you will unlock. 2 guidesYou are now on the last part of the game which isn't too hard but might take you some tries.
Keep in mind that you can't turn on any lights or it's an instant death. Only use your flashlight. You will only have to find Emily 3 times while having all other 6 dolls try to get you. The good part with this is that she spawns in the same few locations each time:.
The electrical room in the red area. This is usually the first place I look when the level starts. The construction area in the yellow area where the forklift is. The warehouse in the green area at the back of the room. In the conference and training room in the other yellow area. Research office 1 in the blue area. (It is unlikely Emily would spawn here but it has happened during my playthrough so just keep this in mind).Remember to keep in mind that Greta, Max, and Weasl will spawn in their regular locations.
Greta for the blue, Max for the green, and Weasl for the yellow. So when you move around looking for Emily, keep in mind where you are so you know which doll could spawn. In general, finding the locations is not difficult once you know where she spawns but the dolls could slow down the process and you have to watch out for the combinations. Below are some tips you may find helpful.I would always recommend to try and find Weasl's music box and turn it off as fast as you can. If he starts running after you, you will have a risk of Mr. Tatters showing up and that could be bad.I would try to stare down at Kiki until she disappears (if it is safe). If you run, she will chase you for a long time and may eventually get you later on.Get rid of Mr. Tatters as fast as you can.
Be extra careful of the first red light. Wait until after the first red light in case you can't get to him in time.If you are in Greta's area, remember to watch out when opening doors and stepping over boxes on the ground as she can hear these. Here is a guide by Achievement Land showing the final level.
